Setting Up Your Sensory Swing at Home

One of the most common questions we get is: “Where do I hang it?”

Setting up a sensory swing at home can be simpler than you might expect, but choosing the right location and installing it correctly are important for both safety and enjoyment.

Choosing the Right Space

Colyvee sensory swings are designed for indoor, domestic use. Look for an open area where your child has plenty of room around the swing and away from walls, furniture, and other obstacles.

We recommend maintaining an unobstructed radius of at least 6 feet around the swing. The lowest point of the fabric should be positioned between 18 and 24 inches from the floor.

Choosing a Secure Ceiling Location

Your Colyvee Sensory Swing can be installed into an appropriate solid wood ceiling joist or solid concrete structural ceiling, following the installation instructions provided with your particular model.

For a wood ceiling, the ceiling hook must be securely fastened into a structural joist—not drywall alone. For a solid concrete ceiling, installation must be made into solid, poured concrete rather than lightweight plaster or mortar joints.
Because every home and ceiling structure is different, have a qualified contractor, structural engineer, or rigging professional evaluate the structural support and verify the completed installation before using the swing.

Follow the Instructions for Your Swing

Colyvee sensory swings are available in different styles, and the attachment method may vary between models.

Always use the User Manual included with your specific swing when assembling the fabric and connecting it to the suspension hardware. Follow the illustrated steps carefully and make sure all carabiners are completely closed and locked before use.

Safety Tips

Always supervise use. Adult supervision is required whenever a child is using the swing.

Check before every use. Inspect the fabric, suspension hardware, daisy chain, ceiling mount, carabiners, and attachment points for wear, damage, or loosening.

Respect the weight limit. Colyvee sensory swings are designed for children ages 3 and older and support a maximum weight of 300 lbs.

Give the swing plenty of room. Maintain an open, unobstructed area of at least 6 feet from furniture and walls.

Keep it at the proper height. The lowest point of the swing should remain between 18 and 24 inches above the floor.

Use the proper hardware for spinning. Spinning is recommended only when using the appropriate 360° swivel.

Creating a Sensory Corner

Once you've found the right location, you can make the area around the swing feel like its own special space.

Consider creating a simple sensory corner with comfortable surroundings and a quieter atmosphere. A soft pillow can make the swing itself feel like a cozy personal nook, while soothing music or favorite tactile toys can help create a relaxing break from a busy environment.

Whether it becomes a place for gentle movement, a quiet break, or simply a cozy spot to unwind, your Colyvee Sensory Swing can become a special part of your child's everyday space.

Before installation or use, always read the complete User Manual included with your specific Colyvee Sensory Swing for detailed installation diagrams, safety warnings, and model-specific instructions.
